The roots of this agency go back to 1924 when a local businessman began offering insurance to the Salem, Illinois, community. Over the years there were several mergers of insurance agencies and in 1958, Joe Black joined the business. The business continued to grow through mergers and by offering the most current auto insurance, home insurance, and business insurance products available. In 1978 the business relocated to its current location and in January 1980, Joe Black became the proprietor of the business. He incorporated the Salem, Illinois, insurance agency and continues to grow the business with the help of his son, Ed Black, and two other locally known, dedicated professionals - Lonnie McDaneld and Jean Oulrey.

The Joe Black Agency is an independent insurance agency representing a carefully selected group of financially sound and reputable insurance companies. The folks at the Joe Black Agency look forward to serving the auto, home, and business insurance needs of their customers in Salem, Illinois, for many years to come.
